PIÉRROT, was started to keep the originality and staples of the Harlem neighborhoods alive, by highlighting the prominence of the Harlem Renaissance. The products sold by PIÉRROT includes: a bottle of red wine (Pinot Noir), a can of white wine (Chardonnay), and a wine glass. The packaging design is inspired by all forms of the performing or visual arts that was manifested during the Harlem Renaissance in the 1920s. Most of the artwork reflected and color schemes were influenced by artist Aaron Douglas. The name of the brand comes from Langston Hughes’ poem, of the same name, Pierrot. The packaging included 100% biodegradable materials to create the boxes and labels for the products, which could be returned to the store, in exchange for half off the customer’s next purchase.
